MEXICO: Gálvez pulls no punches in second debate

The second presidential debate took place in Mexico on 28 April. Xóchitl Gálvez, the candidate for the main opposition coalition Fuerza y Corazón por México, had her work cut out after a disappointing performance in the first debate on 7 April [WR-24-14]. Although the consensus is that Gálvez put on an improved and more combative display, it is unlikely to have done much to close the gap between her and frontrunner Claudia Sheinbaum of the ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena).
