DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: A pending issue

The government led by President Danilo Medina has made considerable progress on some of the main challenges it faced on the domestic front when it first came to power in 2012. However, the one area where the Medina administration appears to be falling behind is in improving public security. Following the first meeting of the national security council this year, Attorney General Francisco Domínguez Brito, admitted as much, underlining that security is an area where the Medina government will redouble its efforts in the coming months.
