BRAZIL: The limits of pre-paid

In recent years, running a Brazilian mobile telephony company has been as close as you can get to having a licence to print money. With millions of people willing to pay for instant, portable communications, mobile phone subscriptions grew for many years at breakneck speed. But this is no longer the case: the market is showing signs of saturation, forcing operators to re-think their strategies in an attempt to defend their margins.
