VENEZUELA: Mass protest actions rattle Maduro

For the better part of 13 days Venezuela witnessed a wave of massive opposition protest demonstrations, met with pro-government counter-demonstrations, with clashes that often turned violent. President Nicolás Maduro described the protest actions as a coup attempt by fascists, blaming the US for inciting them and Colombia-based ‘mercenaries’ for participating in the conspiracy.
