BRAZIL: Is Mantega’s smile justified?

According to Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge), real GDP growth in the final three months of 2013 was 0.7% quarter-on-quarter and 1.9% year-on-year over the same period of 2012, taking overall GDP growth in 2013 to 2.3%, well above private sector consensus expectations.
