Quinoa boom continues apace
In March the Bolivian government led by President Evo Morales opened a brand new ‘International Quinoa Centre’ aimed at promoting scientific research into the production and industrialisation of the grain. Known as the ‘Golden Grain of the Andes’ due to its high nutritional content and its ability to grow in extreme climatic conditions, quinoa continues to boom internationally, helped by the UN’s declaration of 2013 as the ‘International Year of Quinoa (IYQ)’.
