MEXICO: Michoacán interior minister seized
The eye-catching arrest of the interior minister of the western state of Michoacán, José Jesús Reyna GarcÃa, for alleged links to organised crime, was calculated to demonstrate the federal government’s commitment to getting to the bottom of the security morass in Michoacán. It also showed, indirectly, the scale of the challenge the federal government faces to restore a semblance of normality to Michoacán.
