Sánchez Cerén seeks to defuse tension with Honduras

El Salvador’s President-elect Salvador Sánchez Cerén held a private meeting with Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández on 5 April. Sánchez Cerén has served notice that his foreign policy priority will be deepening Central American integration, touring the sub-region ahead of his investiture on 1 June and appointing the present secretary general of the Central American integration system (Sica), Hugo Martínez, as his foreign minister.
