SECURITY: Shoot-down law takes effect

President Evo Morales recently sanctioned a new law authorising the Bolivian air force to intercept and force down suspected drug planes flying through Bolivia’s national airspace. The move, which is unlikely to be well received by the US, is the latest attempt by the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) government to combat drug trafficking.
