ECONOMY & POLITICS: Stagnating

Although the situation on the ground means that Venezuela will not avoid a painful recession this year, the adjustment being enforced by the government led by President Nicolás Maduro could, eventually, restore some sort of stability to Venezuela ahead of the 2015 mid-term legislative elections. It’s a piecemeal policy approach, however, designed principally for political survival.
