PAN throws a spanner in the works

On 3 June Senator Jorge Luis Preciado of the right-wing opposition Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) said his party would not support the government's secondary energy legislation until state legislatures approve the electoral reform. This is a last-minute spanner-in-the-works for the government’s plan to have all the secondary energy reform legislation approved in congress by the end of this month. Further negotiation – and some delay – may now be unavoidable.
