PERU: Humala rings the changes as economy slows

President Ollanta Humala has moved swiftly to try and shore up confidence in Peru’s slowing economy and prop up his flagging popularity one month shy of the third anniversary of his investiture. Humala drafted in three new cabinet ministers, one of them the director of the central bank, on 23 June. At the same time his government sent an “urgent” package of measures to congress in a bid to reactivate the economy.
