PERU | Tourism is a bright spot. On 19 June Peru’s foreign trade & tourism ministry (Mincetur) revealed that 1.04m foreign tourists visited the country in the first quarter of the year, 3.4% more than in the same period last year. The tourism sector’s positive performance should provide some encouragement to the Peruvian government at a time when the domestic economy is experiencing a marked slowdown, especially mining and construction sectors.
