Cristina and Vladimir talk up a strategic alliance

Russia's President Vladimir Putin and his Argentine opposite number, Cristina Fernández, met in Buenos Aires on 12 July, signed a series of cooperation agreements, including one on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and spoke of a strategic alliance between the two countries. There is some doubt, however, about how important the Buenos Aires – Moscow axis might turn out to be.
