The Colombian bishops’ conference (CEC) has underlined its determination to play a pivotal role in an eventual peace accord between the government and the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) being negotiated in Cuba. The CEC elected Luis Augusto Castro, the archbishop of Tunja, the capital of the department of Boyacá, as its new president last week.
