BRAZIL: Three companies dominate campaign financing

Three of Brazil’s largest companies are responsible for 65% of the funding for the presidential election campaign. JBS, the largest food processing company in the world; Ambev, the brewer; and Grupo OAS, the construction firm, together contributed the lion’s share of the financing received by the top three presidential candidates: President Dilma Rousseff, of the ruling Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT), Aécio Neves of the opposition Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB), and Eduardo Campos of the also opposition Partido Socialista Brasileiro (PSB).
