*** IMF KEEPS UP PRESSURE ON BELIZE. Belize’s United Democratic Party (UDP) government led by Prime Minister Dean Barrow is proud of having successfully undertaken two sovereign debt restructurings in recent times, in 2006-7 and again in 2012-13, without the help of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).  This has encouraged the government to resist IMF pressure to undertake “frontloaded macroeconomic adjustment policies”.
