Civil unrest in Guerrero

The deaths of at least six protesting trainee teachers and the disappearance of dozens more during violent clashes with municipal police in the town of Iguala, Guerrero state, sparked mass demonstrations in the state capital. The demonstrators accuse the municipal police of using excessive force to repress the protests and of having links to organised crime. They also want the resignation of the mayor and the state governor.
