PERU: Scores of police officers investigated in corruption case

Further indications of the extent to which corruption has spread in Peruvian officialdom were provided by the news that about 200 police officers are being investigated for suspected connections with a ring involved in money laundering, people trafficking, prostitution and illegal real estate dealings. Arrest warrants have been issued against the alleged leaders of the ring, retired police colonel and lawyer Benedicto Jiménez Bacca and entrepreneur Rodolfo Orellana, who remain at large.
