Political earthquake in El Salvador

Floor crossing and defections have been outlawed by El Salvador’s crusading constitutional chamber of the supreme court. The groundbreaking resolution could have a big impact on governance in El Salvador as a number of splinter groups invariably take shape in the 84-seat legislative assembly between elections allowing the government of the day to muster majorities to advance its legislative agenda. After the next legislative elections in March 2015 this will become much more complicated.
