ECONOMIC OVERVIEW: EL SALVADOR

Representatives of Colombia’s national infrastructure agency (ANI) visited El Salvador on 22 October to share their experience in public-private investment and concessions to help develop and unlock the country’s potential. The president of ANI, Luis Fernando Andrade, emphasised the agency’s big role in tackling Colombia’s deficient transport infrastructure through the construction of roads, ports and airports and El Salvador is keen to tap into its expertise. Andrade et al met Vice-President Óscar Ortiz, previously a business-friendly six-time mayor of Santa Tecla, who is in charge of investment in El Salvador, the foreign minister, Hugo Martínez, and other cabinet officials.
