CHILE: Antiterrorist law to be applied before reforms

The government of President Michelle Bachelet is now studying the reforms to the antiterrorist law proposed by a panel of experts, against the backdrop of a surge of violence in Mapuche areas in the south — where it has eschewed the use of the existing law. In Santiago, meanwhile, it has announced that it will invoke the existing law against suspected anarchist bombers.
