BRAZIL: ‘Homicides could be halved by 2030’

In relative terms Brazil is spending on public security almost the same as the European Union (EU) and slightly more than the US. However, notes the annual report of the Fórum Brasileiro de Segurança Pública (FBSP), the results yielded by this level of spending is far lower. The FBSP argues that Brazil has the wherewithal to bring down sharply at least one of the headline indicators of public insecurity: its homicide rate.
