EL SALVADOR: FMLN pushes through bullish budget

The business sector joined forces with the main right-wing opposition Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (Arena) on 20 November to condemn the 2015 budget successfully pushed through the legislative assembly by the government of President Salvador Sánchez Cerén. The budget includes a massive increase in spending for the justice and public security ministry as the government seeks to reduce violence and its causes. There are also smaller, but significant, spending boosts for the education and health sectors.
