VENEZUELA | ‘Revolution’ in the police. On 27 October President Nicolás Maduro announced that he would carry out ‘a revolution in the police’ for which he will create a presidential commission to be headed by himself and his new minister of the interior, justice & peace, Carmen Meléndez. The latter had been shunted three days earlier from her post as defence minister after the previous interior minister, Miguel Rodríguez Torres, resigned.
