HONDURAS: ‘Massacres’ decline; other homicides less so

In Honduras ‘massacres’ are considered an indicator of major organised crime violence, as distinct from other kinds of homicide. They have been declining steadily year after year since former President Porfirio Lobo (2010-2014) took office in 2010, and at a faster rate than the total homicide count. A reading of recent figures suggests that organised crime violence has become even more concentrated in a few parts of the country.
