COLOMBIA: When the guerrillas chose to look the other way

Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) negotiators continue to insist that, given their observance of the unilateral truce they declared on 20 December, it would make sense for the government led by President Juan Manuel Santos to reciprocate by making the ceasefire bilateral. They recently hinted, without giving any details, that their own observance of the truce had been maintained despite ‘having felt the government’s offensive’ — in other words, they have chosen to look the other way regarding some actions by the military.
