Obama fights for his immigration law

The US House of Representatives on 3 March finally approved full fiscal-year funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), after attempts by Republicans to make funding contingent on blocking President Barack Obama’s controversial November 2014 executive action on immigration. In the end, the DHS budget passed with no mention whatsoever of the Republican condition, thereby putting the house leadership of John Boehner under fresh scrutiny. Only moments before the House vote, Charlie Dent (R-Penn) said: “It’s time to move forward and stop playing these silly games…Let’s prove to the American people that we’re serious about protecting this homeland and that we have the capacity to govern”.
