Any joy Argentina’s President Cristina Fernández may have felt following a judge’s dismissal of charges she “covered up” Iran’s involvement in the 1994 Amia bombing must have been short-lived. This week, Gerardo Pollicita, the prosecutor who has taken over from Alberto Nisman, launched an appeal against that dismissal with the criminal federal court. Given the court magistrates assigned the appeal are the same who rejected Argentina’s memorandum of understanding with Iran as unconstitutional, they may prove sympathetic to Pollicita’s case.
