POLITICS: Police corruption still a concern

A former national police chief, Oscar Nina, was placed in preventative custody in Santa Cruz’s Palmasola prison, along with his son, police lieutenant Hugo Nina and police captain Xavier Millán. The arrests are in relation to allegations of ties to drug trafficking and illicit enrichment. Nina is the latest former top security official to face drug trafficking-related allegations, and is a further embarrassment to the left-wing government led by President Evo Morales.
