PERU: Going back and forth on shootdown

The Peruvian government, despite having declared an aerial exclusion zone over the Apurímac-Ene-Mantaro valley (VRAEM) and obtained committee approval in congress for a draft shootdown law, has not yet decided whether to resume shootdown operations. This was announced by interior minister José Luis Pérez Guadalupe, who revealed that ‘alternatives’ proposed by the US were being considered, just over a week after it was reported that a first shootdown had actually taken place.
