COLOMBIA | Rising number of disappeared persons. For all the improvement in indicators of violent crime, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has drawn attention to one disquieting feature of the public security situation: the sharp rise in the number of disappeared persons. According to the information service on disappeared persons, SIRDEC, and cadavers of the institute of legal medicine (IML), 10,798 persons were reported missing in 2014 — 44.6% more than the figure for 2013.
