MEXICO-US | Allowing armed foreign agents in. In late February President Enrique Peña Nieto sent to the senate a draft amendment to the federal firearms and explosives law that would allow foreign customs and migrations agents to conduct ‘pre-inspections’ in border posts inside Mexico while bearing arms. Peña Nieto says that the amendment enables Mexico to ‘adopt systems similar to those used in other countries’, making special reference to customs ‘pre-inspections’ on the US-Canada border.
