Workers from 33 different trade unions, with 22 of them from the transport sector, brought large parts of Buenos Aires and other parts of Argentina to a halt on 31 March as they carried out a national strike, the fourth against the administration of President Cristina Fernández. Both pro and anti-government unions participated in the protest which was called to demand the Fernández administration raise the current income tax threshold.
