The May 2016 general elections in the Dominican Republic (DR) may be over a year away but the leading political forces have already been making some significant moves in preparation for the contest. The ruling Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) has announced that its political committee (CP) will discuss whether or not the party should seek to amend the constitution to allow for immediate re-election and give President Danilo Medina the chance to stand for election again next year.
