Honduras – the worst country in Central America for press freedom

At the end of last month the US-based political and human rights advocacy NGO Freedom House released a report on the freedom of the press globally which revealed that Honduras has the lowest level of press freedom in Central America. Of the seven countries in the sub-region, only Belize and Costa Rica enjoy the same levels of press freedom found in the US and North-West Europe, whereas Honduras ranks in the same group as North Korea, Somalia and South Sudan.
