COLOMBIA: Guerrillas end truce, but talks continue

A raid on a Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) camp in Cauca that claimed 26 lives has led the Farc to suspend its unilateral ceasefire, but does not appear to have derailed the peace negotiations. The guerrillas have said they have no choice but to continue the process in the midst of conflict. Where this leaves the recent agreement to ‘de-escalate’ the conflict is uncertain. A test will be the pilot phase of the joint mine clearance effort, set in motion only six days before the Cauca attack.
