ARGENTINA: Homicide cases rise again in BA province

After three successive years of decline, the number of homicide cases in the province of Buenos Aires, home to more than 38% of the country’s population, rose in 2014 for the second year running. The province is unique in that it keeps quite up-to-date crime statistics, and though the upturn is disquieting the provincial government, headed by presidential hopeful Daniel Scioli, can at least claim that the rate per 100,000 inhabitants has been kept below the ‘epidemic’ threshold.
