A string of foreign leaders and dignitaries have visited Mexico in recent weeks, all seeking to reaffirm economic and trade ties with the country. The visits allowed President Enrique Peña Nieto a welcome opportunity to focus on economic matters, rather on the country’s serious security challenges. Peña Nieto used the opportunity to reaffirm Mexico’s standing as a leading global player in the world economy.
