Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro will meet Pope Francis in Rome on 7 June. This will be the second time Maduro has met the Pope. His audience this time may be a little awkward in light of the almost two-week-old hunger strike by jailed opposition politicians, including Leopoldo López, head of the radical party Voluntad Popular (VP).
