Corruption and narcopolitics scandals rock Paraguay

The government led by President Horacio Cartes has been besieged by a string of scandals, which are dominating public debate and taking a serious toll on the government’s image. The situation is being exploited by the president’s political opponents in congress to move against him, with efforts  underway to repeal some of his flagship economic policy initiatives.
