President Salvador Sánchez Cerén has launched his fiercest assault on the judiciary in a long conflict that could have serious political and economic ramifications. The whole of El Salvador’s political class has accused the constitutional chamber of the supreme court of justice (CSJ) at various points over the last five years of overstepping the mark and surpassing its remit. Sánchez Cerén went much further.
