POINTERS

PANAMA | Sharp decline in homicides. According to official figures cited by El Siglo, in the first half of this year there were 262 cases of homicide, or 21% fewer than in the same period of 2014. This fall was largely due to the 58% decline in the province of Colón, where 22 cases were recorded in January-June. There was also a smaller decline in the province of Panama, of 41.5%, to 22 cases.
