Venezuela blacklisted again over human trafficking

In the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report for 2015 Venezuela was ranked the worst of the Andean countries – in the bottom tier of the TIP classification – for a second year running. The report, which tracked developments in protection, prosecution and prevention rates between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2015, points to persistent high rates of human trafficking in the region, with Bolivia in the Tier 2 Watch List for the second year and Ecuador and Peru’s Tier 2 rankings unchanged. Colombia, which ranked in Tier 1 as late as 2013, was also in Tier 2 for the second year running.
