POLITICS: The 2015 regional elections: five key questions

On 25 July inscriptions closed for Colombia’s October 2015 regional elections. Nearly 120,000 individuals registered to run for over 18,000 local government positions in 1,119 municipalities, but most attention will be focused on the gubernatorial contests in the country’s 32 departments, along with the mayoralties of the departmental capitals. Here we identify five key questions of interest surrounding the upcoming polls and the political scenario thereafter.
