TPS extended for Haiti

Brazil: On 23-29 August US Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) Coordinator Macon Phillips travelled to Brazil, where, according to a US State Department press release, he was due to visit São Paulo, Brasília, and Rio de Janeiro to “discuss collaboration on environmental sustainability issues, learn more about Brazil’s growing eGovernance initiatives, and explore opportunities for expanded bilateral cooperation efforts”. According to the press release, in São Paulo Phillips was due to meet “non-governmental organizations and social media influencers to learn about Brazil’s technology and communications sectors and explore areas of cooperation in confronting environmental challenges”. In Brasília, he was due to meet with “government officials, government relations experts, and academics to better understand Brazil’s growing eGovernance initiatives”; while in Rio de Janeiro, he was due to meet with “NGOs to discuss Brazilian efforts to address environmental challenges through public engagement campaigns” as well as “talk to tech incubators and social media leaders to discuss cutting edge innovations occurring in Brazil”.
