SECURITY: How safe is Bogotá?

In polls leading up to the Bogotá mayoral election on 25 October, two issues have consistently topped the list of public concerns: mobility and security. Given the capital’s gridlocked roads and packed public transport, the first is no surprise, but the second is more confusing. In a 2015 survey by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, 43% of respondents said they felt the security situation in the city to be worsening. The official figures show a different story, however.
