Impunity costs

A recent study calculates that in money terms corruption ‘eats up’ about 5% of Mexico’s GDP, and has a wide rage of deleterious effects on the economy. However, the man who led the study, Juan Pardinas, argues that what matters most is the impunity enjoyed by those who engage in acts of corruption which leads to its passive acceptance by much of the public.
