VENEZUELA POLITICS AND ECONOMY: Looking for a way forward
As the severe economic and political crisis continues in Venezuela, the secretary general of the main opposition coalition Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD), Jesús Torrealba, has called upon a ‘new democratic majority’, potentially to include disillusioned government supporters, to come together to forge a national political compromise agreement to resolve the situation. As part of this, the MUD, now in control of the national assembly, is pushing for an early change of government.
