Eclac warns on gender violence

The United Nations (UN) Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) recently warned about the high numbers of femicide in Latin America and the Caribbean – a problem which continues to afflict the Andean sub-region. According to the latest Eclac figures for the countries for which figures were available, Colombia registered the highest rate of femicides overall in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2014.
